Leigh James

Leigh James sings and plays guitar effortlessly, as if music was as natural to him as breathing… “I just love to make beautiful music, whether writing or interpreting: Jazz, Latin, Funk, R&B, Pop from James Taylor to Stevie Wonder, Sting to John Mayer, Tony Bennett to Michael Buble and everything in between.” Leigh has a keen ear for the right sound (and volume) for any venue. State of the art sound system, tasteful lighting, and the appropriate repertoire for each individual event: a true professional with a sparkling talent! Four Dolphin Awards to his credit, for Funk, Pop, Gospel, and Country, and was recently highly commended in the prestigious International Songwriting Competion for his song Make Peace, Leigh has supported/backed Shane Howard, Graeme Connors, Kate Ceberano, The Black Sorrows, James Morrison, Renee Geyer, Marcia Hines and Brian Cadd to name a few!

“Friendly Enemies” is an acoustic covers duo that is the brainchild of life musicians Peter Hayes & Ben Brennan. These two creative criminals are no strangers to the Australian and International music scene having both played together on and off since they started jamming over 20 years ago. Their musical journey has been rooted in original rock, funk, hip hop, blues and electronic music, both having toured Australia and the world extensively together and separately in a range of successful professional projects over the years including Seven, Couch Funk, Full Scale Revolution & The Ox and The Fury. Currently, Pete is enjoying international success with his electronic solo project Tetrameth with gigs all over the world including Brazil, Japan and Israel, whilst Ben is playing bass for well known pioneer Australian Funk/Live Hip Hop act Resin Dogs. They formed their first musical bond in 1995 with an original rock band called “Seven” that was based in Byron Bay before moving to Melbourne in 2002 to continue their musical journey. Seven supported many international touring acts, whilst successfully touring Australia and Europe off their following.

CHRIS RADBURN – Father of three Chris Radburn has been a comedian for 15 years, having performed on over 15 TV shows including the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala, NRL Footy Show and Last Comic Standing. Two of his sketches including one of The Parents sketches were among the 16 finalists in the 2016 Australia’s Funniest Shorts Competition. KATIE BURCH – Mother of two, Katie Burch was the State winner of Raw Comedy 2014 in NSW and finished as National Runner-up. She was a guest comedian on The Footy Show in 2015. The Montreux Comedy Festival flew Katie to Switzerland to perform in their comedy festival’s first ever English speaking show in 2016. SEAN WOODLAND – Father of two Sean Woodland began performing stand-up comedy at age 40. In his first two years he either won or placed in numerous Australian comedy competitions including Green Faces, Quest for the Best and the RAW NSW State Final. Venus 2 Duo

VENUS*2 is an electric guitar and vocal duo that love to perform and entertain! The duo, Diane and Bruce, (along with their unpaid drummer, bass, and band, who remain hidden in a little box throughout the night) have been successful in the music industry for quite some years now in previous bands throughout NSW and through their relationship formed VENUS*2, which has now been a full time working duo for over 10 years earning their living from music entirely. A huge international and national online fan base has sent them to No 1 in the Number1Music Charts in Sydney in March 2016, No 2 in Sydney Reverb Pop Charts and No 5 in Aust National Pop Charts with their popularity and available original material.

Guy Kachel

The world of roots music opened up to Guy Kachel at an early age having been born in Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia. Together with this musical heritage there was also inspiration from artists like Bob Dylan, John Hiatt, Rodney Crowell and JJ Cale. Kachel says “I wanted to play and create music like these guys because I could really feel where they were coming from on a soul level”. Guy's songs were all developed and written based on a mixed bag of Blues, Folk, Country Rock and Americana. They are all delivered straight from the heart.

Mad Mule

Mad Mule are a six piece from Lennox Head. Been playing together for over ten years. We play a mix of originals and covers that reflect our individual musical tastes and backgrounds. A brief cross section of our set list. JJ, Cale, The Waifs, Neil Young, Midnight Oil, The Atlantics, Crowded House, Beatles, Stones, Crazy Horse, Chris Isaak, Black Keys, Wanda Jackson, The Church, Chuck Berry, Waikiki, Pete Murray, The Who, Hunters and Collectors Yard Birds, Eric Clapton, Steelers Wheels, Fleetwood Mac, The Sweet, Masters Apprentices, Easybeats, Divinyls, Hoodoo Gurus.

Monkey & the Fish Duo

Chris Fisher and Marcelle Townsend–Cross, AKA ‘Monkey & the Fish Duo’, create a special vocal harmony & presence. Live sets draw on material from five studio albums including their recently released 'A Place Of Hope'. Interpretations of songs by Crowded House, John Mayer, Paul Kelly, Tracey Chapman and others are also performed. Music arrangements include ‘stomp box’, harmonica and percussion. Monkey & the Fish are based on the Nth Coast of NSW and in their 15 years of collaboration have received many accolades. For recorded work they have won a total of 9 Dolphin Awards. Performance highlights include several Woodford Folk Festival gigs and a UK tour. Excellent guitar work and vocals with eclectic influences and magic song craft combine in an entertaining and uplifting performance.

As a local musician from the Northern Rivers, Cass, who also fronts local emerging 5 Piece Band ‘DC5’, offers solo, acoustic cover performances of a wide range of popular songs appealing to audiences of all ages. From nostalgic ballads (Halleluigha, Babylon), to classic Australian and overseas pop rock (Dumb things, Ship of Fools), to modern hits (Sing, I can’t Feel my Face), Cass pleases everyone with his own unique touch on familiar tunes.

Ooz is an acoustic roots reggae artist with a large, eclectic repertoire of crowd favorites. His unique, laid back but lively style creates a relaxed atmosphere and his song choices have you remembering many of those forgotten classics. His ability to create layers with a loop pedal, enable him to play bass guitar and lay percussion beats to accompany his performances and get the audience on their feet. From beginning to end, Ooz will have heads nodding and toes tapping!

Rob Csokas                         

Rob's casual warm style, comprising of rich vocals, acoustic finger style guitar and harmonica, evokes a sense of self-taught folk and is a joy to listen to. He has an enormous repertoire of upbeat melodies and warm heartfelt ballads, performing both original songs as well as unique covers of songs that many will recognise.

The best way to get involved in the club and meet our patrons is to try your hand at a game of bowls. Whether it is a round of barefoot on a sunny afternoon or in our local comp, we can accommodate people of all skill levels and ages. Combine with a social event and you’re guaranteed good time. All equipment is included.
